Battery size, capacity and weight can be customised, which matters at this class: an 80V battery is a major structural part of the truck. The cell basis for the series is 3500-cycle LiFePO4, and the battery management system protects against over-current, over-voltage and over-temperature operation, extending battery life by preventing use outside warranted conditions.
Designed for opportunity charging at scale
Heavy trucks cannot be taken out of service for long charging windows. The design answers that directly: convenient lateral charge ports allow quick and easy opportunity charging without removing the battery from the lift truck, the high-frequency charger communicates with the battery management system to ensure proper charging, and charge and discharge levels and event codes are shown without an additional display. Short charging periods at times chosen by the driver or the shift schedule keep the truck earning instead of waiting.
The cost picture at 80V
The manufacturer's comparison is honest about the trade: a lithium traction battery costs roughly twice the lead-acid equivalent at purchase, and earns it back through an energy density about 40% higher, a service life two to three times longer, and a self-discharge rate under 3% per month against 15-30% for lead-acid. At 80V, where a single battery is a serious capital item, that life and utilisation difference is the whole argument — one lithium pack covering work that wears out multiple lead-acid sets.
